I am going to get very very real with you right now. If you’re doing a pet account, and it’s something you want to do long term, you have to take into account the transient nature of pet longevity. As someone who has had a dog account for 10 years, and lost 3 dogs during that course, it’s never easy. You might be thinking, why the hell are you bringing this up on a video from 2019, nearly 4 years before Esper tragically passed away. WELL, you have to start thinking about it right away. How our account adapted was to integrate myself into the videos (If I die, who cares, I wont be around anyway). This comes with a major caveat - there are GROWING PAINS to doing this. People who follow exclusively pet accounts will probably hate you at first. You’ll get made fun of, I was called a BOOMER more times than my millennial heart cares to realize. The second way we adapted, was to make the account not about a SINGULAR pet, but our home… That said. MANTIS MANOR would not be created for many many more years. Ok, enough with the heavy shit, let’s talk posts. THIS POST was one of the first times I put myself in a video in a unique concept (Unique and also weird af). I got a lot of flak for it, but this was a defining tone - I even just recently REDID this video… for better or for worse.
Begging for attention?

It’s always good to respond to videos or try to reach new viewers. One of the way's we did this was by responding to artists looking for “MUSES.” Did it work? Ya. Was it like a GO TO STRATEGY… no.

Responding to comments is a great way to keep everyone engaged, you’ll see we did that a TON. Sometimes comments have great suggestions, like this video, someone wanted us to do the same thing but IN REVERSE.

So this was right around when LIVE VIDEOS started on TikTok. I still havent cracked the code of WHAT THE HELL TO DO on live videos, but they are a great way to gain followers, make money, everything. The most successful lives i’ve ever done have been Q&A sessions.
